Hilarity Now In a Can!.........................

Hey people.

Now what is the most annoying thing associated with TV? Its (in my opinion) canned laughter.

Youll be sitting at home, after school or work, relaxing watching a comedy program and BAM! CHUCKLES GALORE! The executive producers open up a can of laughter.
What I dont understand is why do they use it? Its like me saying to you "this blog is hilarious and now your gonna laugh your arse off!"

I have noticed that it mostly occurs in American sit-com shows. 90% of the time its a show that thinks its hilarious (but it isnt) and 10% of the time the show is actually funny (but doesnt require it)

The worst offender is our own home grown Australias Funniest Home Videos Show. AFHV is a funny show but the canned laughter just makes me get ticked off about it. Next time you watch it, listen to the laughter, i gurantee that you will always hear this 10 - year old kid laughing right at the end of the track of laughter, no matter what episode, I hear it every time and it really gets on my goat.

There is two types of audience laughter in T.V.
A) Canned Laughter
B) Live Audience Laughter

The difference between canned laughter and audience laughter is that audience laughter is recorded from a live audience watching the show unfold, so the laughter is natural.
An example of a show that uses live audience laughter is Rove.

Now that we have digital T.V. these days, we can achieve more and more things for example.... we could make canned laughter optional, like a button on a T.V. remote. (as pictured to the left(by the way, if you dont know what STFU means, its Shut the F&$% Up))

One thing I have always wondered is how much do they people in the canned laughter recording get payed?
I mean do they get cash in hand to turn up and just randomly start laughing hysterically OR is their a royalty system? Who Knows?

The only example that i can think of that canned laughter has suited is Seinfeld (man I love that show)
